Christmas with Lyss: My Holiday Family Traditions

I love the days leading up to Christmas as family members start to gather from out of town and the holiday magic comes with them. My family, like many families, have our own traditions that make our holiday gatherings special and dear to us. Here are my favorites!

Matching pajamas is a tradition I’ve started in my family! Dogs of course get pajamas too. Old navy is one of my favorite places to get really nice christmas pajamas from (it’s where I got them for our family this year). Skims also has really cute options, if you’re willing to spend the coin.

In our family, we’re such movie people so of course Christmas movies during the holidays are a must! My personal favorite (and everyone’s personal favorite, if we’re honest) is The Grinch.

Year round photos are a must for me of course, and they are especially important for me during the holidays. I love having the memories to look back at, plus you can get the whole family involved!. There are a ton of super cute Christmas-themed studios in Atlanta. My personal favorite is where Hershey and I got our matching photos this year at the Blanc Studio.

My favorite holiday drink is spiked sorrel - definitely a Jamaican tradition! Typically my mom would make sorrel from scratch by soaking the sorrel plant. Since we’ve been doing Christmas in Atlanta, we’ve instead been buying pre-made sorrel, which you may find at your local Publix or Kroger.

As for dessert, my mom makes THE best sticky toffee, and it’s an absolutely tradition (and personal requirement lol) for Christmas. The soft cake with warm caramel sauce, which melts the cold ice cream on top… my mouth waters just thinking about it!

Feel free to share your own family traditions in the comment box below and let me know where you’re spending your holiday season this year.
