How To Plan AND ACHIEVE Your Goals For The New Year Ahead
January is a WRAP, but it’s NEVER too late to start thinking about your goals for the year ahead. Here’s exactly how I’ve evolved from a bored corporate employee to a successful 6-figure entrepreneur in the midst of building my DREAM LIFE.
“The future is MADE, not predicted.”
I’m a huge fan of planning ahead, and have been using the same method to set AND ACHIEVE my goals for many years. After all, failing to prepare is preparing to fail…
My method for planning and achieving goals is as simple as taking the time to think about what you want. What does your dream life look like? Think BIG, and picture it in detail. Then right it all down, do the work and watch your dream life unfold. You DO NOT have to have it all figured out and “perfected” by January 1st. In fact, the best plans are revisited and tweaked throughout the year. If there’s one thing 2022 taught me, it’s that all the rules are FAKE. Throw them all away, and just do what you need to do WHEN it works for you! I’ve made a free copy of the EXACT template I use to plan my goals every year.
Things to think about when planning your year ahead:
Word of the year
What’s your headline for this year, for this next chapter? If you were writing a script for 2023, what would the movie starring you be called? Name your season: season of growth, change, faith, letting go…
2. Business goals
Whether you’re trying to grow your business, get your degree, progress in your career, or find a way to make money doing what your love! Write it down, make a plan and get things rolling.
3. Personal goals
Time for some self reflection. Every year should be a year for SELF GROWTH. Decide to make some small changes and a year from now you’ll reap a huge reward. Plant the seed and she’s gonna be ripe by December, TRUST ME!
4. Q1-Q4
Sometimes breaking up your goals into bite size pieces can’t help ensure you keep your eye on the prize. Planning each quarter is the recipe for sustainable growth, and it can act like a checklist as the year goes along.
5. Affirmations
You already know the drill! This is my absolute favorite part, and arguably the most important. Speak life into yourself! Affirm your purpose out loud. Be intentional about how you uplift yourself and what you assign value to.
Another resource that I highly recommend is the Year Compass which I discovered through the amazing Black British author and content creator Candice Brathwaite. You can see her testimony for yourself here! The Year Compass is a more in depth reflection on the past year and sets you up to release the old and prepare yourself for all things NEW. It is the perfect opportunity to be EXTRA detailed and intentional with your 2023 goal planning and you can access it here.
